Connection is the key that helps us to heal, thrive, and continue to grow. My hope is to provide an environment that is encouraging, empowering, and safe as my clients bravely take the risk of stepping into vulnerability. I'm honored to partner with you during a chapter of your journey.
A little bit about me...My specific training is in attachment, relationships, and trauma. I provide therapy services to couples and individuals.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the approach that guides my work. My commitment to continual growth in EFT has led me to complete advanced training on implementing EFT with shame, families, and highly escalated couples. In addition, I hold active memberships in both ICEEFT (International Centre for Excellence in Emotion Focused Therapy) and the Kansas City EFT Community.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an approach that I use when helping clients find relief and healing from traumatic experiences. I am Level 2 trained in EMDR.
Perinatal Mental Health and Birth Trauma are areas of passion that emerged out of my own struggles and experience. As a survivor of birth trauma and postpartum anxiety, I dove into my own healing work and training. No parent should have to struggle with this transition in isolation. The entire process of growing a family is full of complexity. You don't have to walk through alone. Whether you want help with the transition, loss, miscarriage, TFMR, traumatic experiences, or postpartum concerns, I'd love to walk with you.
My clinical experience has given me to opportunity to partner with children, adults, couples, and families. Before going into private practice, I worked at a non-profit organization targeted toward helping children and families. During that period, I worked with families to address traumatic experiences, life-cycle transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, and relational distress. I also walked with families as they navigated the foster care system and adoption processes.
In my personal life, I’ve been married to Josh Johns for over 10 years and we have 2 lovely daughters. Prior to life as a therapist, I planned to be a literature professor. That is partly why I’m often perusing bookstores and reading multiple novels simultaneously. When I’m not reading, you’ll find me caring for my plants or researching places to travel.

Together, we find healing and meaning within relationships. I love working with couples and individuals, especially those who have experienced trauma, and other neurodiverse people like myself. I attempt to foster an environment where we gain understanding about how your unique experiences shape you and work on effective ways to create change in your relationships and mental health.
I am a graduate of Friends University with an M.S. in Family Therapy. I love working with couples and individuals to help them find healing and meaning in relationship. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in the state of Kansas.
I am Advanced Trained (Externship & Core Skills 1-4) in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) which guides my practice with couples and individuals. In addition, I am level 2 trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is useful in helping clients find healing from traumatic events as well as other concerns such as anxiety or negative self-talk. I am also level 2 trained in the Gottman Method couples model. I have experience working with couples, families, children, and individuals with a variety of concerns including trauma, ADHD, Autism, high sensitivity, anxiety, depression, grief, and family relational issues. I have been honored to help couples move past pain and breaches of trust including addiction and infidelity, help individuals heal from acute traumatic experiences and more complex trauma, as well as help adult families restore connection after periods of no-contact.
I have been married to Amberlee for over 10 years and I love working in private practice with her. I also enjoy listening to vinyl records, playing board games, and having fun with our two girls.
